ES File Explorer is a tool for file managing and exploring released for the Android platform only. The application was developed by ES Global, which is a subsidiary of DO Global, which, in turn, is a subsidiary of Baidu. You can download and install ES File Explorer on Google Play. It is completely free, but the app contains ads.
Interface 4/5
The ES File Explorer’s interface is very practical but does not have a beautiful design. There are no special effects or animations. The main menu is located on the side left panel, however, by default, it is hidden. The user needs to click on the three blue lines in the upper left corner to open the panel. This approach allows to save space on the main screen, place fewer elements and create more space between them. As for the colors, the main color is white, it is placed in the background, the menu is highlighted in blue. The remaining buttons and menu tabs are highlighted in other colors, including brown, green and red.
Features 5/5
Among all ES File Explorer features, it is worth mentioning the main three: file transfer from Android to PC using LAN or FTP protocol, the integration with various cloud storage platforms, and a root browser. Let’s dwell on the first one. ES File Explorer allows people to manage the files on Android similar they can do it on the computer using the following commands:
- Multiple Select;
- Create/Delete;
- Rename;
- Cut/Copy/Paste;
- Share option;
- Bookmark, and so on.
Also, you can categorize the files as you wish, backup them, or create the shortcuts. In addition, the application supports more than 20 languages. The full list of available features and options is on the app’s official site or on Google Play.
Usability 4/5
Overall, ES File Explorer has an intuitive and user-friendly interface. Visually, the main page is broken into three sections. The first one is the navigation buttons: Images, Video, Audio, PAK, and Transfer to PC. The second section is hidden by default, but when you start to transfer the files, the loading bars are appearing here. The third section contains the recent media you use. It is very easy to navigate across the application.
Compatibility 3/5
ES File Explorer is available on one platform only — Android. The application is fully free to download, install, and use, but the free version, contains advertising, plus, there is a lack of features. Users can download the app on Google Play, by the way, it is quite a popular application — more than one million install. ES File Explorer weighs only 6.6 MB, so you cannot worry about its size. The updates are not regular, for example, the latest version was published more than six months ago.
Summary
ES File Explorer is a great helper when we are talking about file transfers from the Android device to the PC. In addition, there are a bunch of other useful and curious features. ES File Explorer is completely free and can be installed on Google Play. Unfortunately, the application only runs on the Android platform.
